What are the three credit types?
Geol.ai uses three typed credit pools: Scan Credits (consumed when analyzing pages), Format Credits (consumed when optimizing structured data formats), and Prompt Explorer Credits (consumed when running Prompt Explorer queries). Each credit type has its own monthly allowance and overage rate. Credits do not transfer between pools.
How do scan credits work?
Scan credits are consumed when Geol.ai analyzes a page -- 1 credit per page scan. Free gets 3 one-time scans, Starter gets 5/month, Growth gets 20/month, Professional gets 100/month, and Scale gets 200/month. Credits reset monthly on paid plans.
What happens when I exceed my monthly credits?
When your included monthly credits are exhausted, usage continues seamlessly via pay-as-you-go overage. Overage rates are $1.00/scan, $1.00/format optimization, and $0.20/prompt run. Overage charges accumulate and are auto-billed when they reach $50. Free tier users are hard-blocked when credits are exhausted (no overage billing).
How does the $50 auto-billing threshold work?
Overage charges accumulate as you use credits beyond your monthly allowance. When accumulated overage reaches $50, Stripe automatically charges your payment method. Any remaining overage below the threshold is billed at the end of your billing cycle. This prevents surprise large charges by spreading costs over time.
Can I buy additional credits?
Yes! Top-up credit packs let you buy extra credits at a discount vs overage rates. Scan packs come in 10/50/100 credit bundles (up to 50% savings). Format packs come in 10/50/100 credit bundles. Prompt run packs offer 50 runs at 25% savings vs overage.
Do top-up credits expire?
No. Top-up credits never expire and persist across billing cycles. Your monthly included credits reset each cycle, but purchased top-up credits roll over indefinitely until used. The system always uses your monthly included credits first, then top-up credits, then overage.
Are there page or URL limits?
No. All plans include unlimited pages. You can add as many URLs as you need to any project. Pages are free to add -- only scanning and optimizing pages consumes credits.
Can I switch plans?
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time from your account settings. Changes take effect immediately, and billing is prorated. All paid plans include a 14-day money-back guarantee.
What are team seats?
Team seats let you invite collaborators to your project. Professional includes +1 team seat, and Scale includes +3 team seats beyond the project owner. Team members get full project access including scanning, monitoring, and format optimization. Billing, subscription management, and project settings remain owner-only. Free, Starter, and Growth plans do not include team seats.
What AI engines are monitored?
The number of AI engines monitored depends on your tier. Growth monitors 4 engines daily (ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Google AI Overview). Professional monitors 6 engines daily (+ Copilot, Gemini). Scale monitors all 8 engines daily (+ Grok, Claude). Free and Starter tiers do not include AI monitoring.
What is the Prompt Explorer?
Prompt Explorer lets you run prompts against multiple AI engines simultaneously and see side-by-side comparison results. Each run costs 1 Prompt Run credit. You can add interesting prompts to AI Monitoring for ongoing tracking -- monitored prompt slots vary by tier (Growth: 15, Professional: 40, Scale: 100). Automated monitoring runs are always free.
Which AI models does Geol.ai use for analysis?
Geol.ai queries every AI engine using the same model that powers its public chat interface. When we report what ChatGPT says about your brand, we use the exact GPT model that runs on chatgpt.com. When we report what Claude says, we use the same Sonnet model served on claude.ai. The same principle applies to Gemini, Perplexity, and every other engine we monitor. For scraped platforms like Google AI Overviews, Copilot, and Grok, we capture the live response directly from the platform itself. This ensures the results you see in Geol.ai reflect the real-world experience your customers have when they search with these AI tools -- not a cheaper proxy or a different model version.
